Patch your rig in minutes.
Pick fixtures from our lighting inventory, choose the DMX mode each one runs in and let the tool address them across universes. Drag fixtures around the universe grid, plan nodes and splitters, then download a patch report or a file for grandMA2, grandMA3 or ChamSys.
Patch summary
Fixtures in this show
Tick the DMX mode each fixture type is running in. Drag the grip onto a universe grid to add one more at that address.
No fixtures yet. Add some from the library on the left.
Drag fixtures to patch them
Each square is one DMX channel, 512 to a universe. Drag a fixture to a new address or another universe. Fixtures you move stay put when others are added.
Every fixture, every address
Nodes, ports and DMX runs
Universes are given to node ports in order. Where a universe feeds more than one position, a splitter is suggested.
Report and console files
Patch report
A4 PDF with the fixture list, full patch schedule, universe maps and network plan. Works for any console.
Console files
MVR (My Virtual Rig) imports into grandMA3 and ChamSys MagicQ with patch, fixture numbers and layers. The grandMA2 file is a fixture layer XML.
How to import
- grandMA3: copy the .mvr to
gma3_library/mvron a USB stick (or the onPC library folder), open Patch and use Import MVR (v2.3) or Partial Show Read (v2.4 and later). The file uses placeholder fixture types with the right channel count. Swap each one for the real library type with Change Fixture Type (or add real GDTF files before importing). - ChamSys MagicQ: import the .mvr from the Patch window (recent MagicQ versions support MVR). Then morph the placeholder heads to the real personalities.
- grandMA2: in Setup, Patch & Fixture Schedule, import the fixture types first using the numbers listed in the readme, then import the XML as a layer. The .zip includes the readme.
Always test an import on onPC or a spare show file before show day.
Save this patch
Your patch saves automatically in this browser. Download a project file to share it or open it on another computer.
Channel counts come from manufacturer DMX charts and spec sheets where we could find them. Fixtures marked Check have not been confirmed. Always confirm the mode and footprint on the fixture itself before patching.
